Louis Cherry founded Cherry Huffman Architects in 1992 with Dan Huffman. Louis received his Masters of Architecture from North Carolina State University and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from East Carolina University. In 2008 he was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.
Louis serves on several community boards including the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Contemporary Art Museum. He also sits on professional and academic juries and has served as an adjunct lecturer in the School of Architecture at North Carolina State University’s College of Design.
Louis has completed projects including the United Church of Chapel Hill, Cary Academy in Cary and the McSwain Education Center at NC State’s Raulston Arboretum, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, the Cameron Village Library, Enoteca Vin and Burning Coal Theatre Company all in Raleigh.
Louis has designed many schools for the Wake County Public School System and has a special interest in sustainable educational environments. He has just begun work on a new high school for Durham Public Schools. Louis is also working on the Lightner Public Safety Center in Raleigh (targeting LEED Gold), the Community Library and the Sustainable Technologies Building at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro (both targeting LEED Silver) and the Schaub Creamery at NC State (targeting LEED Silver).
